John Wesley Ard, Sr.

John Wesley Ard, Sr., 64, husband of Emma Shuler Ard, died Friday, January 17, 2020, at Agape Hospice House in Columbia, surrounded by his loving family. 

Born July 24, 1955, in Manning, he was a son of the late Richard Lee Ard, Sr. and the late Louise Dukes Ard. He was a retired machine operator for Albany International in St. Stephen.

He is survived by his wife of Greeleyville; two sons, John Wesley Ard, Jr. (Carey) of Lynchburg and Richard Gordon Ard (Dawn) of Greeleyville; two brothers, Richard Lee Ard, Jr. (Patty) of Greeleyville and Thomas Michael Ard, Sr. (Myra) of Denver, North Carolina; three sisters, Betty Lou Whaley (Curtis) of Lake City, Sue Whaley (David) of Olanta and Ruth Fogle of Summerton; four grandchildren, Briana Ard, Shelby Ard, Wes Ard and Emileigh Ard; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frankie Ard.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2020, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. James Melton officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Shuler, Maxie Shuler, Lee Ard, Michael Ard, Ryan Ard, Thadd McKenzie, Curt Whaley, Wade Coker, Philip Wallman, Adam Durham, Logan Shotwell, Aaron Shuler and Trevor Milliken. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the farm, 2860 Manning Highway, Greeleyville.

The family would like to thank the staff of Agape Hospice House in Columbia for their compassionate care.
