In the upcoming election for the Clerk of Court in Clarendon County, Shanita Brangman stands unopposed, poised to step into the role with nearly two decades of experience and a dedication to service.

Brangman, a proud resident of Clarendon County for the past 19 years, has been an integral part of the county’s legal landscape, serving under the administration of Beulah Roberts, the current Clerk of Court, for the last 18 years. Her journey within the office began in 2006 as a Data Entry Clerk in the Register of Deeds office, steadily advancing to her current position as Office Administrator/Deputy Clerk. Her trajectory mirrors that of Roberts, a testament to Brangman’s dedication and commitment to her duties.

“I am honored and humbled to be able to follow in her footsteps and for her allowing me to be a part of her legacy,” Brangman expressed.

Her responsibilities encompass a wide array of tasks, from managing the day-to-day activities of the Clerk of Court’s office to serving as a liaison between Clarendon County residents and consulate offices. With roles ranging from docket coordinator to handling advanced aspects of the Court of General Sessions, Brangman’s expertise and dedication shine through.

Educationally, Brangman holds a

bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in criminal justice administration, providing her with a solid foundation for the complexities of the role.

Reflecting on her definition of good service, Brangman emphasizes serviceability, responsiveness, and dedication as essential qualities for public servants. She finds fulfillment in customer interaction within the county clerk’s office.

“Assisting people, addressing their inquiries, and ensuring they find what they need is rewarding,” Brangman noted.

Moreover, she stresses the importance of maintaining emotional composure, emphasizing that “professionalism both inside and outside of the office is a crucial aspect of being a court employee.”
