Wide load restriction to take effect Monday on southbound I-95 in Clarendon County

Posted
The state Department of Transportation will start a wide load restriction beginning Monday on a portion of Interstate 95 southbound in Clarendon County in order to work on the southbound bridge over Lake Marion near Santee. The project includes replacing the concrete approach slabs; painting all of the steel underneath the bridge; installing guardrails along the bridge railings; resealing all bridge deck joints; and repairing concrete issues on the deck. During this phase of the work, no loads wider than 10 feet will be allowed to pass, but will be required to exit at Exit 119 of I-95 and follow the detour signs leading east on S.C. 261. This restriction will remain in place through May 2017, when it will be revised based on amount of work completed. For more information, call Jim Porth at (803) 531-6850.
