Clarendon County Council and the Clarendon County Development Board announced Thursday the selection of George Kosinski for the position of executive director of the board, a position left vacant when longtime director John Truluck left for Dorchester County in November 2014. Kosinski will start March 16. Robert "Bobby" Boykin will continue to serve in an interim capacity until that time. "Mr. Kosinski will be responsible for helping develop and implement economic development strategies, as well as facilitate industrial, business and commercial investment in the county," said County Administrator David Epperson in a release. "Mr Kosinski's history in economic development and business growth helped cement his hire." Prior to accepting the position with the Clarendon County Development Board, Kosinski served as director of Existing Industry and Business Development with the Sumter Development Board for eight years. Epperson said he "aided (there) in attracting $900 million in capital investment, 42,000 new jobs and the retention of 850 jobs." "His background also includes product negotiation and working with businesses to evaluate their business plan for increased growth," Epperson continued. Kosinski has a degree in business administration and logistics from Trident University International, and will complete his SCCED designation in April. He is married to Nicole Kosinski, and the couple have two children, Laini, 8, and Nash, 17 months. (Photo posted to Sumter Greater Chamber of Commerce website by Limelight Photography)
