ALCOLU – Lee Ernest Hicks, 50, died on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

Born May 16, 1964, in the Cypress Fork section of Alcolu, he was a son of Edward Hicks Sr. and the late Shirley Gamble Hicks.

Survivors besides his father include three devoted sisters, Barbara Alston of Baltimore, Md., and Shirley Blanding and Frances Hicks of Manning; five devoted brothers, the Rev. Dr. George E. (Bettie) Hicks of Orangeburg, and Herbert Hicks, Willie J. Hicks, Raymond Hicks and Leonard Hicks, all of Manning; two uncles, Samuel Hicks of West Haverstraw, N.Y., and Junior Gamble of Baltimore; three aunts, the Rev. Lillie Bell Washington of Bronx, N.Y., Vicky Hicks of Haverstraw; and Erline Hicks of Alcolu.

The celebratory services for Lee Ernest Hicks will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at Cypress Fork AME Church in Alcolu, with the Rev. Oddie Smalls, pastor, and the Rev. Dr. George E. Hicks officiating. The Rev. Jerome McCray will preside.

Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

Hicks will lie in repose an hour prior to funeral time.

The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Frances Hicks, 8171 Juneburn Road in Alcolu.
