Optimist Club donates to Camp Happy Days

Posted

The Optimist Club of Clarendon County is out in the community in full swing. The club organizes service projects to meet the needs in the community that may face local schools, parks, hospitals, and much more to make the future brighter for the local youth.

On July 1, when counselors and volunteers unpacked for their week at Camp Happy Days, the Optimist Club was there with forty pizzas donated by Manning’s Domino’s and cupcakes donated from Lucy’s Bake House in Manning, along with drinks and chips. All of this was coordinated and served by the Optimist Club.

The club also donated $1200 to Camp Happy Days to help with the cost of the week-long event and they collected donations to pay for the snow cone boat that visited all campers the night of July 4. Three of the members of the Optimist Club were present to serve the camp counselors and volunteers: President Claudettee Elliott, Brittany Tindal, and Lou Murray, along with current House Representative Fawn Pedalino.

The club has many upcoming fundraisers and needs more members and volunteers. The Optimist Club can be followed on facebook and has a Venmo, if you would like to donate. Cissy’s Boutique in downtown Manning is often a convenient drop-off for donations and supplies needed for the club. For more information on donating or joining the Optimist Club, contact Claudette Grady at 803-460-8053.
