Community resource event connects Clarendon County residents with vital support

Posted

Vision by Design, a nonprofit organization based in Clarendon County, recently hosted a community resource event aimed at connecting seniors with valuable services and information. The event, held on May 9, lasted for two hours and provided attendees with the opportunity to engage with various local vendors and agencies.

Director Kiz Everette shared insights into the event, highlighting its purpose and impact. “Our goal was to provide seniors with a convenient platform to interact with different community resources that they might not typically have access to. By bringing these resources together in one place, we aimed to empower seniors with valuable information and support,” Everette explained.

The event featured a diverse range of vendors, including the South Carolina Attorney General’s office, DHEC, Girl Scouts, Duke Energy, First Steps, Caption Call and more. Attendees had the chance to explore offerings from these organizations, ranging from legal assistance to youth programs and telecommunications services tailored for seniors.

Despite initial concerns about the weather, the event saw an impressive turnout, with over 125 attendees braving the elements to participate. Everette noted that the threat of rain may have deterred some individuals, but ultimately, the community’s resilience prevailed.

“We were thrilled to see such a strong turnout, despite the weather challenges. It reaffirms the importance of these events in our community and the value they bring to our seniors,” Everette remarked.

Looking ahead, Vision by Design has exciting projects on the horizon. Everette mentioned the upcoming completion of their small business program and the launch of a home repair grant initiative. These initiatives aim to further support Clarendon County residents by fostering entrepreneurship and addressing housing needs.

Additionally, Vision by Design recently initiated their Spring Fling Partnership Campaign, reaching out to potential partners and donors to support their various community programs. The campaign seeks to establish new partnerships and secure financial contributions to sustain and expand Vision by Design’s impact within the county.

In a letter addressed to potential partners, Everette outlined Vision by Design’s commitment to serving the community and invited support for their programs, which include a senior program, small business center, food bank, housing preservation grant, and more.

As Vision by Design continues to make strides in uplifting the Clarendon County community, they remain grateful for the ongoing support of partners, volunteers, and donors who share in their mission of empowerment and service. Through collaborative efforts, they are making a tangible difference in the lives of seniors, families, and residents across the county.
