LMA announces new varsity football coach

LMA Headmaster Tripp Boykin released the following information on Friday morning. On behalf of the LMA Board of Directors and myself, we are pleased to officially announce that Mr. Austin Floyd has been offered and has accepted the position as our new head coach of our varsity football team and as head of the football operations.  Coach Floyd will also be serving on our high school faculty in the social studies department. Coach Floyd is currently the offensive line coach and a faculty member at Lamar High School. He has also served at Lower Richland High School and served as a student teacher at Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, SC.  His Coaching experience also includes time as an undergraduate assistant with North Greenville University, a varsity baseball assistant at Wade Hampton HS, varsity offensive line coach and JV offensive coordinator at Lower Richland High School, and varsity offensive coordinator, offensive line, and defensive line coach at Lamar High School.  Coach Floyd is a strong supporter and active member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is also active in his home church, serving as a Deacon. Coach Floyd is a graduate of North Greenville University where he earned a B.S. in Social Studies Education.  Coach Floyd is married to Whitney Thigpen Floyd, who is a graduate of Clemson and is currently completing her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of South Carolina.
