Give the gift of warmth

Posted

As residents and local business owners of Clarendon, Angela and Chris Weeks have always looked for ways to give back to the community.

Two years ago, the Weeks hosted a large cook out for the community. Then Covid hit and hindered the

giving. This year they are back.

Angela Weeks said, “Children have always been my passion, and I wanted to do something for the kids this year.”

The Weeks own three businesses in the community and two are centered around children.

Weeks said, “We rent out the bounce houses cheaper than others in town in an attempt to make them accessible to all families when there is a birthday or other celebration for children.”

Angela and Chris decided  to host a ‘Give the gift of Warmth’ drive this year.

The drive started Monday, Nov. 28 and will continue until Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The Weeks are collecting children’s hats, gloves, and coats. A drop box is located at The Manning Times, 230 East Boyce Street in Manning, SC. Weeks hopes other businesses will host drop boxes as well in the upcoming weeks. Financial donations can be made via Paypal, CashApp, or Venmo by contacting Angela Weeks directly at 803-460-6799.

The items collected will be distributed evenly among the local schools on Dec. 15, before Christmas Break begins.

All warm weather gear, new or in  gently used condition, will be accepted.
