Saturday Spotlight: Inv. Kenneth Clark

Posted

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is the eighth in a series of profiles that manninglive.com will be posting each Saturday to highlight our first responders and dispatchers who keep Clarendon County a safe place to live. After each Saturday posting, the piece will appear in the following Thursday’s Manning Times.

A 1980 graduate of Manning High School, Clarendon County Sheriff's Office Inv. Kenneth Clark received certification in technical education from Central Carolina

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BE A FIRST REPONDER?

My desire to make a positive difference in Clarendon County, by serving others with compassion who otherwise might be taken advantage of by the selfish ones. This decision came about after working in the South Carolina Department of Corrections for three years.

WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING THING ABOUT BEING A FIRST REPONDER?

Having to deal with a defendant or a child or elderly abuse, and your personal feelings can otherwise cripple your ability to perform your duties and may jeopardize a criminal case.

DESCRIBE A MEMORABLE MOMENT.

My most memorable moment was the recent flood here in Clarendon County.

PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY.

On June 16, 1984, I was united in marriage to my high school sweetheart, Ruth Ann Clark. Out of this union we have two children and two grandchildren. My wife is the owner and operator of Special Occasions Bridal and Formalwear in Manning. My son and daughter both reside in Columbia. They both pursued careers in law and law enforcement. They are graduates of South Carolina State University and Charleston Southern University.
