Senate President Pro Tempore Hugh Leatherman released the following statement in response to SCE&G's proposal today in regards to the V. C. Summer Nuclear Project:
"The proposal that SCE&G released is an insult to ratepayers - their 3.5 percent rate reduction of the 18 percent customers are currently paying, is not a rate reduction at all. You can’t reduce something that shouldn’t have been there in the first place. This proposal is simply unacceptable and does not restore taxpayers’ hard earned dollars that they have already payed and for some reason SCE&G expects them to continue to pay after it was determined the project could not be built. I don’t know where we are going, but I know this isn’t it.”
