The state Department of Corrections is currently searching for a 46-year-old inmate who escaped from a Dorchester County facility Wednesday afternoon.
Jimmy Causey allegedly escaped from Lieber Correctional Institution about 2 p.m. Wednesday. He was serving life sentences without the possibility of parole for kidnapping, armed robbery and first-degree burglary in Richland County, and had served several prior prison sentences, according to the Department of Corrections website.
He is described as 6-feet-2 and weighing 177 pounds. He has a one-inch scar on his chin.
Anyone who comes into contact with him is asked to call 911 immediately.
