Thomas Aubry Terrell, 67, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia.
Born Oct. 17, 1949, in Independence, Louisiana, he was a son of the late Wilfert Terrell and Helen Short Terrell. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association. He was a former officer with the New Orleans Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department in Georgia. He loved his dogs, fishing, the New Orleans Saints and his family. He was a former volunteer with the Salvation Army and A Second Chance Animal Shelter.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Terrell (Tammy) of Irvington, Alabama; two daughters, Sarah Terrell and Ann Terrell, both of Mobil, Alabama; two step-daughters, Vicki May of Covington, Georgia, and Hope George of Monroe, Georgia; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James R. Terrell (Miriam) of Westwego, Louisiana; and a sister-in-law, Janet Goodwin of Manning.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wilfert Terrell; and two sisters, Bonnie T. Penney and Kathy Bartholmow.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at Stephens Funeral Home.
