KINGSTREE – Grover Cleveland Morris, 69, husband of Mary Dolores Thames Morris, died Sunday, April 3, 2015, at McLeod Hospital.

Born December 1, 1946, in New Zion, he was a son of the late Biford Woodrow Morris and the late Margaret Viola Duke Morris Blizzard. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Williamsburg and Clarendon County Fire Departments and a lifelong member and Deacon of Union Cross Roads Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of Kingstree; a son, Jeremy B. Morris (Laura) of Kingstree; a daughter, Cristol Morris Duke (Jimmy) of Charleston; a brother, Roger W. Morris (Joan) of Manning; four grandchildren, Lane Morris of Kingstree, Iris, Donovan and Lilly Duke, all of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Williams.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh Elmore and the Rev. Greg Allday officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 3581 Sumter Highway, Kingstree.
