LMA teams finish first in DNR sporting clays tournament

The Laurence Manning Academy sporting clays posted some remarkable results March 4 during the state Department of Natural Resources Sporting Clays Open Championship held at Palmetto Shooting Complex in Edgefield. A total of 49 teams and 525 participants competed from both middle and high schools from throughout the state. Trevor Turcotte, John Burroughs and Justin Lowder finished first in the Junior Varsity Team Advanced category, scoring a combined score of 269 out of 100 targets. Jamie Williamson, Carrie Rickenbaker and Isabella Harris accumulated a combined score of 246 out of 100 targets, earning them first place in the Girls Intermediate Team category. John Burroughs and Jamie Williamson both scored higher than any other competitors in their categories, earning them the coveted High Overall Trophy.
