MHS player nominated to play in 2016 McDonald's All-American Games

Manning High School's Rayvon Witherspoon has been nominated to play in the 2016 McDonald's All-American Games, a "prestigious high school basketball event to be held later this year in Chicago," according to a release from the organization in charge of the games. Witherspoon is one of 760 high school seniors throughout the nation who have been nominated to play in the All-American Games. This year's list includes players from 49 states and Washington, D.C., who have been selected by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald's All-American Games Selection Committee. Witherspoon is one of four players hailing from the midlands, along with Seventh Woods of Hammond School; Jhileiya Dunlap of Dreher High School; and Taylor Toney of Gray Collegiate Academy. McDonald’s will name the final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls who will be selected to play in the 2016 Games during the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Show, which will be held 10:30 p.m. Jan. 17. The 39th annual Boys Game will tip-off 9 p.m. March 30 at Chicago's United Center, and will be broadcast on ESPN. The 15th annual Girls Game will precede the boys game at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU. Net proceeds from the Games benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). The Games have raised more than $11 million for RMHC since their inception in 1978. At RMHC, programs like the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room provide stability and vital resources to families so they can get and keep their child healthy and happy.
