Edward Allen Landry Sr., 75, an owner-operator truck driver and longtime resident of Manning, died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at his home.

Born Sept. 24, 1940, in Syracuse, New York, he was a son of James Landry Sr. and Corrine LaLonde Landry. He was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life of 45 years, Alma Fox Landry. He was a devoted father. The well-being of his family was most important to him. He served in the U.S. Army, owned several transportation companies, was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Order of the Alhambra.

He touched the lives of so many with his warm sense of humor, easy smile, kindness and generosity.

No one he met was ever a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his brother, sister, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and friends.

Survivors include his daughters, Kelly Bitonio (Edgar) of Merced, California, Christine Patneuade of Bradenton, Florida, and Kathy Rose (Kevin) of York; a son, Edward Landry Jr. (Donna) of Kirkville, New York; his grandchildren, Bobbi-Jo Levine (Jeffrey), Jessica Hodges (Aaron), Jibreel Landry, Brandy Rose (Jack Taskey), Christian Latimore, Rachel Patneaude, Alyssa Patneaude, Nicole Longergan and Abilgail Landry; and his great-grandchildren, Lekel Landry, Jacky and Emma Taskey, Adrianna and Colton Hodges, Tristan Hill, Reid Levine and Calyse Latimore.

A memorial mass and service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at All Saints Catholic Church located in Lake Wylie, officiated by Father Ed McDevitt.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his favorite charity, Father Flanagan’s Boys Town at boystown.org.
