A 50-year-old Manning man told the Manning Police Department Oct. 14 that a 49-year-old Manning man “swung at him” during an argument over $15 about 3 p.m. that day at a store in the 300 block of West Huggins Street in Manning.
According to reports, the victim told police that he did hit the suspect back, saying, “I had no choice but to hit him. I’m going to defend myself.”
The victim said the suspect approached him and asked “where was the $15 that he owed him,” reports state.
The suspect later appeared at the Manning Police Department, saying that the alleged victim came up to his truck as he tried to leave the store and said, “You can’t answer the phone when I call you?”
He said the victim then grabbed him by the arm and pulled the door to the truck open and began to choke the suspect.
“Once he took his hands off his throat, he began to punch him in the face,” the alleged suspect told police.
Police reported the suspect had a visible bruise to the right side of his face and also had some swelling. Pictures were taken of the alleged injuries.
