JACKSONVILLE, Florida - Landstar System Inc. has recognized Manning resident Wilbert Briggs as a 1 Million Mile Safe Driver.
The company is a worldwide, asset-light provider of integrated transportation management solutions delivering safe, specialized transportation services. During his career with Landstar, Briggs has driven 1 million consecutive miles without a preventable accident.
Briggs is one of 136 men and women who make up the 2014 Class of Landstar 1 Million Mile Safet Drivers. All were recently honored at an awards ceremony in Orlando, Florida, for their outstanding safety records and professionalism behind the wheel. Collectively, the 136 owner-operators have safely driven more than 136 million miles, the distance from the earth's surface to the sun.
On average it takes a Business Capacity Owner with Landstar about 10 years to travel a million miles, a distance that would take the typical non-career driver 67 years to complete. BCO is Landstar's term for the independent owner-operators who provide the company with transportation capacity under exclusive lease arrangements.

The addition of the 2014 Class brings the total number of active Landstar BCOs who have earned the 1 Million Mile Safe Driver status to 868.
