Catherine Robinson named MHS Teacher of the Year

Manning High School guidance counselor Catherine Robinson was named the Manning High School Teacher of the Year. She has 15 years of teaching experience, with 29 years altogether in Clarendon 2. A graduate of Manning High, she has a bachelor's degree in business administration from South Carolina State University and a master's of education degree in counselor education from South Carolina State University. She said seeing students meet and exceed their expectations in high school and beyond "to become productive citizens" is the most rewarding part about her career. She is a member of the Palmetto State School Counselor Association, the American School Counselor Association and the S.C. Counseling Association. She is a member of Bethel AME Church's Women's Missionary Society, and also serves in the church's Lay Organization and as its financial secretary. She is also a member of the New Light Chapter No. 254 Order of the Eastern Star and the Mary B. Thomas Girls Youth Circle, where she is the assistant mother advisor. She is the mother of a son, Jamal Robinson, and the daughter of Beatrice Walker and the late Jessie and Ella Jane Hicks.
