Manning Police Chief Blair Shaffer said no foul play is suspected as a cause for the death of a 3-month-old infant early Monday morning at his home in Manning Garden Apartments.
Shaffer said Monday that heavy police presence at the complex was a precautionary measure. He said the child's mother woke about 4:30 a.m. to find the child unresponsive and not breathing. She and a neighbor attempted CPR, without success. Shaffer said an autopsy performed late Monday showed no signs of foul play and that toxicology reports are still pending.
