Falcons edge Monarchs

Despite a strong third quarter, Manning High School tonight lost a tough matchup with Darlington, falling 21-20. "We've just got to play a complete game," said MHS Head Coach Tony Felder. "They came out throwing and made some big plays." The Monarchs appeared flat and out of rhythm for most of the first half but came out chomping at the bit in the third quarter with Raquan Bennett making some big plays. Ultimately, a missed point after attempt  proved the difference. "Darlington is a good team," Felder said. "With 3:44 on 4th down, we felt we could hold them -- but didn't." Still, there were plenty of bright spots for the Monarchs, who are now 3-4 for the season with 0-2 in region play. "I like the way our kids fought and played," he said, and adjusted to a running game. "Bennett shows a lot of character. Maybe put him on the defense, you know?"
