An 18-year-old man believed to be responsible for an early morning shooting in Sumter County near Clarendon County that claimed the life of one person and sent two others to the hospital has been arrested without incident, said Chief Deputy Hampton Gardner of the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. Charles Gary Singletary III is believed to be responsible for a shooting about 5:15 a.m. at 203 Pearson Road, near the Clarendon County line, authorities said. Two people were shot in the head and a third person sustained a laceration to the ear. One of the victims died. Gardner said deputies are unsure of the motive but believe Singletary and the victims were acquainted. "We're not sure if the suspect was visiting or spent the night," Gardner said. Just before 10 a.m., Gardner said Singletary was arrested without incident after an intense manhunt.
