GUNSHOTS HEARD

On June 3, an officer from the Manning City Police responded to the 200th block of Packard Lane in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, the complainant stated that someone shot from the direction of the 300th block of Canal Street and that the other people at the residence dodged the bullet. The officer noted a broken bottle of beer underneath a female subject that was in a wheelchair and an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from both female subjects on scene.  The officer asked the complainant if anything was damaged or if anyone was injured and they stated no. The complainant pulled the officer inside the residence and stated that the house on Canal Street was a drug house. The officer advised her that the police department was aware and that officers were looking into the residence.  The officers then walked over to the home on Canal Street and spoke with residents there. They stated that they did not hear any gunshots and that they had been out for quite a while. Officers were unable to locate any shell casings. Officers cleared without further incident.   While leaving the area, the officer then passed residents on Walker Street and asked if they heard any gunshots and they stated that they did not hear any gunshots.

ASSAULT - SIMPLE

On June 10, an officer with the Manning Police Department was dispatched to Murphy’s Gas Station at 2020 Paxville Hwy. Dispatch received a call about property damage following a fight in the parking lot and the complainant wanted to make a report over the phone. An officer spoke with the complainant, who reported that her son was involved in a fight with Trenton Tisdale, 18, of Manning, in the Murphy’s parking lot. The complainant stated that her vehicle was damaged during the altercation. The officer advised bringing the vehicle to the police department for documentation of the damages and reviewed the surveillance video from Murphy’s. The officer also contacted the manager of Murphy’s gas station to review the video. The video showed the complainant’s son arriving at Murphy’s, followed shortly by a pickup truck from which a white male emerged and approached the son. The male swung at the complainant’s son and missed, and Tisdale was put in a headlock before both individuals went to the ground, out of the camera’s view. The video also showed two females and an older male breaking up the fight, after which Tisdale walked away and got back into the pickup.

The officer recorded the incident with his body-worn camera and returned to the police department to meet with the complainant and her husband. Upon arrival at the police department, the officer advised the complainant about what was seen on the video. The father identified the male subject as Tisdale. The officer advised the complainants that the incident might be considered mutual combat due to the circumstances when both parties went to the ground, but Tisdale was deemed the primary aggressor. The officer also indicated that the incident would be documented. The father mentioned that this had been an ongoing issue and that he had text messages from Tisdale making death threats. The officer suggested that the complainants contact the Sheriff to document these incidents in case Tisdale reacts to the threats.

The complainant started filing a report of fraud with the cardholder company and was advised to file a report. The complainant stated to being the second policy holder for the account. The officer explained the report process to the complainant and left without incident.
