POSESSION OF ECSTACY
ASSAULT – SIMPLE
On July 24, officers with the Manning City Police responded to the area of the County Administrative building on Highway 301, near Alfred Henry Drive for a theft.
While in route, dispatch advised officers that the victim said that she gave a black female a ride near that location from Westwood Apartments, where her daughter lives. The complainant said the female was wearing blue jeans and a gray shirt. They also said that they dropped the female off without incident and then left. The complainant said that minutes later, she arrived at the daycare near Weldon auditorium and realized her pocketbook was gone. The complainant said she and her 11-year-old grandson quickly hurried back to the area and saw the female, later identified as Shonta Moneke Keels, 44.
The complainant said they got out and tried to get her pocketbook back. The complainant said it was inside Keels’ book bag and as they struggled, Keels took a bottle of water or her hand, the complainant wasn’t sure, and hit her over the right side of her head above the eye, causing a knot as well as a red bruise. Officers recorded the injury on their body cams and offered the complainant EMS, but she declined.
Officers located Keels, matching the description, on Alice Avenue, not far from the incident location, and detained her. The complainant said her pink and blue wallet with a key on it was missing from her pocketbook, containing about $30 in cash, as well as her driver’s license and other items. Officers identified Keels and she had the complainant’s wallet. Keels was placed under arrest, transported to the Manning Police Department office and then transported to the detention center.
Officers completed the evidence inventory sheet and signed the wallet and its contents back over to the complainant. However, the $30 was not located. Officers also found three unknown pills in Keels book bag, seized and labeled as ecstasy.
WIRE FRAUD
On July 26, an officer was dispatched to speak with a complainant in reference to financial fraud from Local Finance at South Church Street.
Upon speaking with a complainant, he stated that someone used a password to access their loan system and approved payout with three loans, and the transactions were used on Repay, debit style cards. He stated that the amount of the transactions were approximately $2,500. The complainant stated that no physical access was made to the business on South Church Street, but he would check the cameras to see if anyone had access to physical location.
Officers cleared without further incidents.
DAMAGE OF PERSONAL PROPERTY
On July 29th, an officer was advised to speak with the manager at Piggly Wiggly in reference to property damage that occurred the day before, on July 28th.
Officers spoke with the complainant, who stated that a group of males came in the previous day and began throwing eggs and replacing eggs into different cartons, along with throwing and breaking a tub of butter. This is also shown in video footage recorded by the store cameras.
The video shows four white males and one black male in the dairy section as they begin to open the large cartons of eggs and throw eggs around. The video shows one of the males throw an egg into the shelving area of the dairy section. Another male is also seen throwing eggs back and forth to each other. The video shows one of the males eventually missed the egg and was thrown onto the ground. The video shows all the males wearing nearly matching uniforms/clothing, navy blue shirt with khaki shorts. The video then shows some of the group leaving and getting into a white Ford F-150 that looks like a newer model. The video also shows the other part of the group getting into a new, dark colored SUV. The complainant stated that one of the trucks had a Louisiana license plate.
The officer working security made them clean their mess but did not attempt to arrest or trespass them.
