Camp Happy Days back to In-Person

Posted

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, Camp Happy Days has been unable to hold their full in-person camp for the past few years. However, Camp Happy Days will be in full swing this year, in July 2022, and they are overjoyed to be able to host their annual camp in person. Each year, Camp Happy Days, in collaboration with Camp Bob Cooper, creates a theme for children ages 4 to 16 who have cancer. Volunteers who care for each child while he or she attends camps ensure that each child’s individual needs are met by organized programs. This year’s camp happy days will begin July 3rd-9th, 2022.

Camp Happy days wrote a letter to the community that reads:

Dear Friend of Camp Happy Days,

We are excited to announce the return of Camp Happy Days’ full-fledged, week-long

summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings for 2022. After two years of

modified programs due to Covid-19, and working closely with our medical partners, it is

time to bring back Camp Happy Days as we have always known it!

For 40 years, Camp Happy Days has offered support and encouragement to families

facing pediatric cancer. We serve more than 1,500 kids across South Carolina, through

camp and more than a dozen other year-round programs.

Camp is our largest program, serving more than 250 kids. Camp offers kids a chance to

make friends like them during a week filled with fun and adventure. From fishing and

kayaking to the ropes course and climbing wall, children who have been isolated

because of their illness they are free to just be kids again. We will be at Camp Bob Cooper in Summerton from July 3 - 9. We will also offer a virtual camp, to reach children at home and in the hospital. This year, due to increasing costs and the need for additional medical supplies, our camp budget is more than $400,000. Bill Ellis has been a volunteer and fundraiser with Camp Happy Days for nearly 20 years, and he can share with you why Camp Happy Days means so much to him and to the children we serve. He is seeking donations to help make this life-changing week possible for more than 250 children, and we hope you will join him!

Camp Happy Days is free to the families we serve, so we must raise all of our funds for

camp each year. Many families face a huge financial burden in addition to the emotional

challenges brought on by childhood cancer, and we are grateful for the support this

community has provided to them. Every donation helps us touch one more family facing

a devastating diagnosis of pediatric cancer.

Thank you for your consideration. If you have any questions please reach out to

cindy@camphappydays.com and I would be glad to talk with you
