AKA Sorority, Phi Omega Omega Chapter presents Pearls of Praise ensemble

Posted

In early January, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Phi Omega Omega Chapter discussed an idea with the president that she wanted to see happen going forward during the new administration. The president told her to present the idea to the chapter and a poll was created to see if any other sisters were interested. There were excited chapter members ready to render their melodious voices!

Our visionary chapter member AKA Renae Caldwell was the catalyst for the formation of The Pearls of Praise Ensemble and Caravan, a traveling team of AKAs uplifting the name of the Lord through song wherever invited and being a blessing while visiting a church by leaving a “gift of love” in the form of a monetary donation. Another AKA, Sharon Madison suggested that the ensemble/caravan consider churches with smaller congregations across the county.

The suggestion allowed us to carry out one of our International Program Initiatives, Uplift Our Local Community, whose chairperson is Sharon Madison. We are charged with being a service to all mankind. Therefore, we hope our monetary contribution to the churches will enable them to serve more individuals in their local communities.

We are happy to share that on Sunday April 14, 2024, a vision became reality at the Greater St. Phillip R.M.U.E. Church of 4574 Old River Road, Pinewood, South Carolina where the Bishop Duwine Sinkler is pastor.  Phi Omega Omega’s Pearls of Praise Ensemble and Caravan made its first stop participating in the worship experience where they rendered a medley of songs. President Jacqueline Sheriod-Scott presented a monetary love token to the church, and they fellowshipped with the congregation for the duration of the service.

The warm welcome and appreciation makes it easy for the ensemble to begin planning the second stop in June 2024. Stay tuned for specifics.
