A manhunt is underway in Manning for a suspect linked to the recent murder of a Sumter teenager. The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office is actively searching for Ja'Hugh L'Goeshay Brukale Martin, 20, of Manning, in the area of Walmart on Paxville Highway.

Authorities have urged residents to exercise extreme caution if they are already in the vicinity and to avoid the area entirely if possible. The Manning Police Department and other agencies are assisting in the search, with the Sumter Police Department also on the scene.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-2-inch Black male, weighing approximately 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve black shirt or pullover, black pants, and black shoes.

1 Suspect in Custody

On Wednesday, law enforcement officers apprehended Jaylen Hammett, 17, of Manning, at a home in Clarendon County. Hammett is charged with accessory before the fact of murder and is being held without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.

Martin is wanted for the murder of Derrick "CD" Wilson, who was last seen on Tuesday leaving the home of a relative on Meadow Circle and getting into a car with two unknown individuals. Wilson, who would have turned 16 today, was found dead Thursday in the Hoyt and Nelson streets area in Sumter. It appears he had been shot.
