Born Aug. 17, 1935, in New York City, he was a son of the late Severin B. and Virginia Cook Tobiassen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1958 to 1960 and again from 1961 to 1962. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
For many years he trained bird dogs and competed with them in field trials, winning many trophies and championships. He also judged many field trials both locally and as far away as Mexico.
Survivors besides his wife include a son, Bernard S. “Toby” Tobiassen.
Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 2529 Raccoon Road in Manning. Interment will be in Blue Mt. Cemetery in Saugerties.
The family suggests donations in his memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
