Posted

A woman was injured Monday evening in a shooting on Reardon Street in Manning, according to a report from the Manning Police Department.

Officers were alerted around 7:10 p.m. Feb. 16 after an off-duty Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office deputy reported hearing between 10 and 15 gunshots in the area of Memorial Street. Manning Police Department and Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office units responded and began checking the area.

Shortly after arriving, deputies located an adult woman lying in the roadway on Reardon Street facing toward Dickson Street with a gunshot injury.

According to the report, the woman told officers she had been shot by an unknown Black male in a dark gray sport utility vehicle. Detectives were notified and responded to the scene.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing numerous gunshots and a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed toward Depot Street. Another neighbor told officers she had spoken with the woman as she was walking past her home moments before the shooting and then heard the gunfire shortly after going inside. None of the witnesses reported seeing a suspect or vehicle connected to the shooting.

Emergency medical services responded and transported the victim to McLeod Health Clarendon for treatment.

Officers canvassed the area for evidence and recovered 13 shell casings along Reardon Street. The casings were located and collected along the roadway between Depot Street and Dickson Street.

The investigation remains ongoing. Manning Police Department Chief Sean Briley asks anyone with information to contact the department’s tip line at 803-433-8025. Callers can remain anonymous.
