Woman gets enhanced shoplifting charge

Frances Shannon Riley, 50, of 811 Peace St. in Sumter, was charged about 5:37 p.m. July 21 with shoplifting, enhanced, at a store in the 2000 block of Paxville Highway in Manning after a store employee told police she saw Riley try to leave the store without paying for three items valued at $23. The items included two types of nail glue and an AC adapter. Shoplifting charges are enhanced under South Carolina law when there are prior shoplifting convictions.
