On the 6th and 7th of May, George P. Windley, Sr. and Willie Bethune will host their annual summit. Windley and Bethune have collaborated over the past four years to create a summit that will hopefully inspire and influence the lives of people who attend. This year’s summit is called “The Black Male Summit,” and it will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and at the Manning Elementary School gymnasium on Saturday at 8:30 a.m followed by a free lunch. Windley is the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist church. He has been a pastor for forty three years.Bethune is the summit director and has been a part of the summits’ success from the beginning.

The purpose of this summit is to try to help males in their lives have a better outlook on life, and it will include numerous teachings and traits to help them succeed in their lives. This summit is open to the public and is completely free of charge. Previous summits have been a huge success and have had a positive impact on the community. Many guest speakers will be in attendance, speaking to the community on a variety of issues. Sam Whack, from Manning, SC, is a guest speaker who is the Richland County district superintendent. All of the speakers at the summits are volunteering their time and knowledge for free in order to impact and share their experiences and stories with those in attendance.

“We hope our young men see people who perhaps grew up like they did but they become achievers,” Windley added. “We want those boys to know that if you believe it, you can achieve it.”
