Summerton woman dies in wreck

A 65-year-old Summerton woman was killed Wednesday morning after the van in which she was riding ran off the side of Luke Godwin Road and struck an embankment. Clarendon County Deputy Coroner Bucky Mock said Clarendon EMS performed CPR on Nancy Gibson at the scene before transporting her to Clarendon Memorial Hospital, where she died from blunt force trauma. No autopsy will be performed, Mock said. S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said that Gibson was the passenger in a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by Coy Gibson. Both subjects were wearing seatbelts. Coy Gibson was transported to Clarendon Memorial as well. The extent of his injuries are unknown. Jones siad the wreck is still under investigation.
