Rec Department holding softball and baseball registration

The Clarendon County Recreation Department will hold registration for T-ball, coach pitch baseball, baseball and softball from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Feb. 20 at the Recreation Office at J.C. Britton Park on Raccoon Road in Manning. To register, parents must present a child's birth certificate, a $45 fee for insurance and uniform and their signatures on the registration form. There will be a $5 late fee for any registrations accepted after Feb. 20. Age groups being offered for baseball include T-ball for 4- to 5-year-old boys and girls; coach pitch for 6- to 7-year-old boys and girls; Dixie Minors for 8- to 10-year-old boys; Dixie Youth for 11- to 12-year-old boys; and Dixie Boys for 13- to 14-year-old boys.

Age groups for softball, fast-pitch only, include Dixie Angels for 8- to 10-year-old girls; Dixie Ponytails for 11- to 12-year-old girls; Dixie Belles for 13- to 15-year-old girls; and Dixie Debs for 16- to 18-year-old girls. Equipment required by participants of baseball and softball include gloves, shoes and helmets, the latter with face masks and chin straps. Helmets are not required for T-ball or coach pitch.
