105 jobs coming to Manning

Provalus, an information technology (IT) support company, announced plans last week to establish a branch in Clarendon County. This will create 105 new jobs at their new technology center.

“When opportunities like these become available, communities must be ready, not get ready,” said City of Manning Mayor Julia A. Nelson. “The city of Manning purchased the former Belk building in 2017; it was an investment for a future economic development opportunity. With Provalus choosing Manning, it proves the investment was definitely a good one. We’re excited that Provalus is establishing a site in our down- town, which will provide career opportunities for our citizens, neighboring communities and additional business opportunities.”

The company has been a long-awaited and well kept secret in Clarendon for some time
now. Clarendon County Council and Manning City Council have referred to it at various meetings over the past few months
as “Project Game-changer.” They have only spoken about it in detail during executive sessions, due to the sensitive subject. When a company is establish- ing a new business in a county
or municipality, they usually wish to remain anonymous. The reason for this is a fee-in-lieu of tax agreement that needs to be worked out between the county and the business first. Any information released before this could jeopardize the companies plans. How- ever, the secret was kept, the agreements went through, and Clarendon, as well as the State of South Carolina, is thrilled to have Provalus.

“We’re proud to welcome Provalus to South Carolina and excited for the 105 new jobs the company is bringing to Clarendon County,” said South Carolina Governor Henry McMasters. “This announcement is a milestone for the community, and we’re excited to see what the future has in store for Provalus.”

Founded in 2017, Provalus’ mission is to grow technology jobs in rural areas. The company develops undiscovered talent to deliver technology, business, and support services for businesses.

“We’re on a mission to bring jobs back to the U.S.,” said Provalus President Chuck Ruggiero. “Provalus is not only solving the tech talent shortage in America, it’s also giving families an opportunity to improve their livelihoods,”

Provalus’ new innovation center will be located at 34 North Brooks Street in manning, and will expand the company’s domestic services for business process outsourcing, formation technology outsourcing and support.

“We are consistently working at diversifying our local economy,” said Clarendon County Council Chairman Dwight Stewart. “Provalus’ decision to locate in downtown Manning builds on that strong foundation. We wish them tremendous success in this partnership.”

This is the third facility to open in just two years of business for Provalus. The company’s other two locations in Alabama and Texas are on target to employ over 500 newly-trained IT professionals.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Provalus to downtown Manning,” said Clarendon County Development Board Chairman John Tindal. “As these information technology-related jobs will make a significant impact on Clarendon County and its citizens for years to come.”

The Manning branch of Provalus expects to be operating by January 2020. Any individuals interested in joining their team should visit https://provalus.com/join-us/jobs or email adameverett@provalus.com
