Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting early Sunday morning at a local motel.
Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell identified the victim as 37-year-old George Ragin Jr. of Manning. An autopsy is scheduled for this week at Medical University of South Carolina.
According to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:40 a.m. to a reported shooting at the Ashburn Inn, located in the 5900 block of Alex Harvin Highway (U.S. 301) near Interstate 95. Ragin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff Tim Baxley said the investigation remains active, with additional details expected to be released as they become available.
The Sheriff’s Office is working in coordination with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
