An 86-year-old Manning man died Friday following a two-vehicle collision on Wash Davis Road in Clarendon County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Clarendon County Coroner’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:09 p.m. at the intersection of Wash Davis Road and Rowe Road, about 5.8 miles south of Summerton, said Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said two vehicles were involved. A 2020 Volkswagen, traveling south on Wash Davis Road, collided with a 2000 Saturn that was traveling north on Wash Davis Road. Both vehicles had a single occupant.

The driver of the Volkswagen was injured and transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell identified the victim as Raymond Casanta of Manning. No autopsy will be performed, according to the coroner’s office.

The driver of the Saturn was also injured and transported to an area hospital. That individual’s condition was not immediately available.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the collision.
