Manning Elementary School student Brendan Cox was recently recognized for his continued support of the American Heart Association after raising more than $11,000 during his time at the school.
Cox was presented with a special trophy at Manning Elementary recognizing his fundraising efforts through the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge, a school-based program that promotes heart health while raising money to help those affected by heart disease.
The recognition follows Cox’s success during the most recent Kids Heart Challenge, when he raised more than $4,000. Rachel Stanley of the American Heart Association recognized Cox earlier this year at the school’s awards ceremony, where she announced he ranked fifth among student fundraisers in South Carolina.
The program, previously known as Jump Rope for Heart, combines heart-health education with an opportunity for students to give back to others.
