A fugitive wanted on a weapons charge in New York was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Manning with the assistance of local law enforcement, according to authorities.
The arrest occurred around 1:40 p.m. Mar. 4 in the parking lot of a business in the 500 block of South Mill Street.
According to a joint statement from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office and the Manning Police Department, local officers assisted the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in apprehending the suspect.
Officials said the arrest was the result of coordinated efforts between local, state and federal agencies.
“The continued teamwork between the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office and Manning Police Department, along with our state and federal partners, continues to pay off,” Sheriff Tim Baxley and Manning Police Chief Sean Briley said in the statement. “We will continue to use every resource possible to remove this type of behavior from the city of Manning and Clarendon County.”
Federal authorities have not released the name of the suspect or additional details about the New York warrant.
No injuries were reported during the arrest.
