Governor's Mansion to exhibit African-American art

COLUMBIA – South Carolina First Gentleman Michael Haley is inviting the public to view what he calls a “one-of-a-kind” exhibit of African-American art at the Governor’s Mansion. The exhibit features pieces originally owned by the Old Slave Mart Museum and is currently on loan from the Greater Acacia Collection, a foundation that maintains and preserves thousands of artifacts chronicling the African-American journey. The free exhibit will be on display in the basement of the Lace House, within the Governor’s Mansion complex, for the first three full weeks of February from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays. The house may be accessed from Gadsden Street. See the Feb. 13 edition of The Manning Times for more.
