Plot: Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. When a vengeful trio of ancient gods arrives on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Shazam and his allies are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of the world.
Review: This movie starts out with two of the three villain's who are daughters of the God Atlas.
The sisters have been trapped in their world by a magical forcefield bubble, and unbeknownst to our hero Shazam (Zachery Levi) he freed them when he broke the wizard's magical staff which was the only thing keeping the magical bubble in place. When he broke the staff, it immediately released the Atlas sisters from their prison, and they are mad and have plotted revenge on whomever has deprived them of their birthright which is magic.
Each sister has a different power which consists of manipulation of the elements, the power to speak to anyone and make them do whatever they ask, and the power to re arrange space and time. As the movie goes, we see that two of the sisters have a vision of restoring their realm, but one sister is power hungry and wants to rule everything and be all powerful. There is a showdown that was okay but could have been much better, there are heartfelt moments between Billy and his family sprinkled all throughout the third act in this movie that will make some tear up. The movie also has a cameo by a fan favorite that I loved. I am not a fan of the actor that plays Shazam (Zachery Levi), to me he tries to be too funny when he is in Shazam form. One of the powers of Shazam is wisdom and he does not show any in either movie. This movie will be fun for kids, but adults would not pay to see it twice in my opinion.
Ranking: This movie gets a 5 out of a 10 ranking for me.
