District 5 hearing scheduled

The Manning Election Commission will meet 4 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers at City Hall to hear a protest of this week's runoff results for the District 5 seat on Manning City Council filed by Gloria Frierson. Frierson received 47 votes, according to the official recount held Thursday, one vote less than winner Julius Dukes. Frierson protested a provisional absentee ballot being thrown out for what Voter Registration officials said was a mismatched signature. Princess Lang said Thursday that the signature on the ballot didn't match the signature on the voter registration application. Frierson claimed the woman in question has Alzheimer's. She said she will present a witness at Tuesday's hearing.
