Clarissa’s Restaurant and Grill celebrated their grand opening on February 24th, 2022. Many people attended and joined in the celebration of the newly opened restaurant on this memorable day of ribbon cutting.

“It went well, and a lot of people came out!” Robinson said of the grand opening turnout.

The restaurant is located at 13 Railroad Ave., Summerton, SC.

“They are loving it,” said Robinson of how the community is reacting to the new restaurant in the community.

David Robinson is the owner of the grill. Robinson is from Brooklyn, New York and moved to Summerton, SC in the early 90’s. Robinson moved to the Summerton area to be closer to family. Robinson now resides in Atlanta, Georgia, and comes to South Carolina to open the restaurant between the hours of 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursdays, and 3 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Clarissa Robinson, his mother, worked for fifteen years in the building before starting Clarissa’s Restaurant. When the building was once again available for purchase, Robinson turned it into a restaurant, as it had been before, and dedicated it to his mother.

Robison had previously worked as a college professor at Atlanta Technical College and never expected to open a restaurant.

Robinson’s mother, Clarissa, was a huge influence on him and encouraged him to pursue a career in the food industry. His wife, Kimberlly Robinson, played a vital role in motivating him to open the restaurant.

“It was very stressful, but she kept me pushing,” said Robinson.

Delicious burgers, wings, fish, shrimp, salads, desserts, kids meals, chili, and more can be found on the menu. This is a take-out restaurant where you can place your order over the phone and pick it up.

The fish, burgers, and chicken finger salad are two of the most popular menu items.

“Great food with affordable prices,” said Robinson, referencing his restaurant’s slogan.
