6 arrested in string of home break-ins

Three adults and three juveniles have been charged for their alleged roles in at least three home break-ins that occurred within Manning city limits in the past two weeks. Capt. Sonia Daniels said the suspects took a coin collection valued at $11,000 from one home, along with guns and miscellaneous jewelry from the second and third homes, respectively. Tyrone Oliver and Cameron Conyers were each charged with first-degree burglary, while James Phelps Gregory was charged with second-degree burglary. Daniels said Conyers also faces a charge of second-degree burglary. The three juveniles were also charged with burglary, Daniels said. Manning police said last week that unknown suspects had been breaking into homes and taking various forms of rare and foreign currency, along with other unspecified items.

Daniels said the cases remain under investigation, and that police are not sure whether these residential break-ins are related to similar break-ins happening to unlocked and unsecure vehicles in the area south of Sunset Drive. She said neighbors need to watch out for each other and notify police if they see anything suspicious. “I may not be home, but if you’re my neighbor and you see something suspicious on my property, call law enforcement,” she said. “Other than that, residents can make sure their homes are secure and locked. If they see anything around their own home, any suspicious activity whatsoever, that should be reported.” Daniels added that other arrests could be forthcoming. "We are still investigating and interviewing those involved in this case," she said. Those with any information can call (803) 435-8859 or 911. Callers may remain anonymous.
