Lesslie Lynn “Les” Howeth, husband of the late Sandra Logan Howeth, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at his home in Manning, SC.

Les proudly served his country in both the Army and the Airforce in the Vietnam war and was active in his veterans group. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as motorcycle enthusiasts who was known to also drive a race car when the chance presented.

He was a loyal friend, loving father; and had a kind heart. Though he had a bit of a stubborn streak he was always willing to help those in need.

Heaven got a good one in him.

Survivors include his mother-in-law, Dot Logan of Sumter; a son, Gregory L. Howeth, (Dana) of Maui, Hawaii, and their daughter, Kassidy; a daughter, Shari Beth Howeth (fiancé, Ricki Williams) of Paxville, her children, Brianna Shahnazarians (fiancé Derrick Ellis), Abbigail McAleavey, Josh, and Lena Williams; Colton’s fiancé, Lindsey Pollard; great grandchildren, Payton, Landon, and Braxton; sister-in-law, Debbie Howeth; niece, Amber Hillman; and a large extended family in Oklahoma.He is pre deceased by his wife of over 50 years, Sandra; his grandson, Colton; and a brother, Roy Howeth.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Austin Hilbish and Chaplain Robert Bowman officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Russ Pritchard, Danny Bell, Wesley Wilson, Ben Barkley, David Crockett, and Watty Snowden.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 960.

The family will receive friends following the service in the family life center at Bethel Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a veteran’s organization of one’s choice.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
