Treshawn Moore, Scott’s Branch wide receiver and strong safety, has committed himself to playing as defensive back, strong safety and outside linebacker for Shepherd University after he graduates.

“It’s a real honor to attend Shepherd University and become a Ram,” said Moore.

Shepherd University is a public liberal arts institution located in West Virginia. Moore believes that the university’s overall environment is a good place for him.

Moore plans to major in sport communication, a career he would like to pursue after completing college, and possibly minor in business administration. If given the opportunity, Moore would like to play football professionally.

“I am overly proud. I don’t know if I can even express how proud I am of him. He worked so hard throughout all the years since he was in middle school. I’m just so proud,” said Latoya Moore, Treshawn’s mother.

Since seventh grade, Moore has been playing football. He revealed that his motivation for playing football came from his uncle and Assistant Defensive Coach Kevin Miller.

“I’ve known him ever since he was in seventh grade, and I brought him down here to Scott’s Branch two years ago. Very well-mannered, hard-working, young man. A lot of people reference him to being my son, and to tell the honest truth, sometimes I feel as though he is my son,” said Miller. “I think this is a grand opportunity, as well as a perfect fit for him. I’m expecting to hear great things from Treshawn.”

With Moore’s declaration of intention, Miller referred to it as more personal due to knowing Moore’s uncle for almost six years, some time prior to Moore attending Scott’s Branch Middle/High School.

“Tre is going to be very successful at Shepherd University. He is a guy that works extremely hard and is totally dedicated to everything he does,” said Head Coach Brian Smith. “He’s a pleasure to coach, and his positivity is what distinguishes him. I can definitely see him pursuing a pro-football career.”

Moore gives thanks to God, his mother, family and all his coaches for this opportunity.
