The Laurence Manning Academy varsity baseball team defeated Hammond 4-1 on Tuesday in the second of a best-of-three series. The win ended the first round of the South Carolina Independent School Association 3A State Playoffs, the first item on the Swampcats' checklist toward defending their state title for a second time. The win took LMA's record to 17-4 on the season. The team will face Ben Lippen in the semifinal series starting Monday at home.
