After four terms and 16 years with Turbeville Town Council, Dr. Kate Smith will leave the public body.
Smith was one of two incumbents up for re-election Tuesday in the town’s election, the only election in Clarendon County. Overall, Smith’s and Herbert Mims’ seats were challenged by three political newcomers, including Tammy Hicks, Casey McElveen and Kathryn Turbeville.
Mims and Turbeville came away victorious. Both will serve four-year terms and will be sworn-in at the council’s January meeting.
