Blessed to live in South Carolina

If you were born in the United States of America, you hit the lottery in life. If you were born in South Carolina, you hit it twice. If you moved to South Carolina and have totally accepted her as your home of choice, without unfair complaint or criticism, you are most blessed. I fall into the last category. I made the move to South Carolina from Ohio more than 30 years ago. Are there things about our state that need serious improvement? Of course there are. For instance, take our highways and roads. I don’t think anyone would argue that one. Are there things about our state that we love and brag about? Yes, most definitely. Our southern hospitality is world-renowned and second to none. We are steeped in history and have some of the most beautiful beaches and striking landscapes anywhere in this great country of ours. However, the main thing that attracted me to South Carolina is the people. I vacationed in Charleston in the early 1980s and fell in love with her people and slower-paced life style. I just knew that this was the right place for me. I made that final move here in 1986. I have never regretted that decision. I am looking forward to highlighting some fabulous Clarendon County residents in the near future in my column entitled “Sincerely, Cindy.” Stand by.
