The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Clarendon County effective through Thursday evening. Heat index values could reach 108 due to temperatures in the upper 80s and dewpoints in the upper 70s. High heat and humidy will increase the risk for heat exhaustion and even heat stroke if precautionary measures are not taken.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. To
reduce the risk of heat illness during outdoor work, the
occupational safety and health administration recommends
scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned
environments.
